This coffee hails from Peru’s San Ignacio region, historically one of the first Peruvian regions to start producing coffee. Coffee is deeply woven into the regional culture in San Ignacio with the end of coffee harvest celebrated with a colorful festival. This particular coffee lot was produced by 3 coffee growers with a total of 15 hectares combined devoted to coffee growing.  All three producers utilize crop diversity as a growing strategy. Crop diversity positively impacts the flora and fauna of the ecosystem and is important in protecting soil health, improving water infiltration, breaking pest cycles, and reducing nutrient depletion. Most importantly, crop diversity minimizes adverse environmental impacts. All three growers are likewise committed to continuing their education to best understand growing strategies that will improve quality and sustainability.
