Our new Gicherori Kenya is a microlot (exclusively selected due to its notable quality) from the slopes of Mount Kenya. We love a decadent Kenya coffee and this one does not disappoint. It’s sparkling, plush, and bursting with flavor and aroma notes of raspberry, red currant, golden raisin, orange zest, cranberry, and cherry bonbons. If you are a lover of a berry-forward (also big-bodied but sparkly) Kenya coffee, this one is for you.

The Gicherori Factory opened in 1997 and is operated by the Kibugu Farmers Cooperative Society (F.C.S.). Around 1,050 smallholder farmer members deliver ripe cherry to the factory the same day it’s harvested.

The Gicherori factory offers assistance and training to each of its members which includes  farmer education, “Good Agricultural Practices” seminars/trainings, and sustainable-farming training.

This particular lot from Gicherori is a mircolot selected by our friends at Cafe Imports for its superior quality. Microlots from Kenya are traceable to either the factory level or individual farm level  and are selected based on cup score. Cafe Imports’ green buyer for Kenya typically takes up residency in Kenya during the harvest (due to the sheer number of samples to be cupped) and selects the best of these lots to purchase as microlots, including this special microlot.
