Ngurueri Kenya AA

best Kenya coffee

Some of the best Kenya coffee comes from JBC!

Introducing a quintessential Kenya: our new Ngurueri Kenya AA. It’s creamy, bright, and berry forward with tasting notes of blackberry, red currant, sweet cherry tomato, and raspberry. Bottom line: a classic Kenya profile with a creamy body, bright acidity, and tantalizing pops of all the berries. A must-try for all Kenya coffee lovers!

Farm Level Info. This coffee comes from smallholder farmers who are part of the Murue Farmer’s Cooperative Society and who contribute their ripe coffee cherry to the Ngurueri Coffee Factory. Situated in Embu County on the slopes of Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare ranges, the Ngurueri Factory features picturesque views of Mount Kenya National Park. Farmers here benefit from red volcanic soil that provides all the essential minerals to produce amazing coffees. Couple this with cool temperatures and you have an ideal growing environment for some of the world’s best coffees. At the factory, meticulous cherry sorting and generous quality incentives ensure that only ripe cherries are processed. Coffee cherry is first depulped, then fermented, then washed, and finally dried on raised beds. Ngurueri works extensively with farmers to provide sustainability and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) training. The cooperative likewise provides monetary assistance for school and farm improvements, as well as providing additional training meant to promote quality-forward and sustainable practices on the farm level.

Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.

  • Unparalleled quality. We won’t buy a coffee unless we know that it will inspire you.
  • A human story. Often times a producer’s story gets lost in the coffee supply chain. It’s our focus to provide a seed to cup experience, honoring everyone involved.
  • Sustainability. We purchase sustainable coffees directly from producers and through brokers who share our goal of making coffee a sustainable commodity. Financially and environmentally, the coffees we purchase seek balance.
