New! Shanta Golba Ethiopia

Our new Shanta Golba Ethiopia is everything we love about a traditional washed Ethiopia coffee with a nice little pop of orange. It’s crisp and silky with tasting notes of clover honey, orange aperol spritz, gardenia, lemon, and rose. It’s crisp, silky, and the perfect Spring cup. Enjoy!

Farm Level Info. Over 1200 smallholder farmers deliver ripe coffee cherry to the Shanta Golba washing station in the Bensa region of Sidama, Ethiopia. Shanta Golba employs extremely strict ripe cherry specifications to ensure high quality as well as only using the middle to end of harvest for their high grade offerings as the best coffees are typically the highest elevation coffees (which ripen last.) Coffee in Ethiopia is typically grown on small plots of land intercropped with other crops like enset, banana, oranges, and other indigenous natural shade trees. Intercropping benefits not only the coffee (producing a higher grade product) but also the environment. Traditional growing practices in Ethiopia do not employ the use of fertilizers, pesticides, or fungicides.

Learn more about JBC, five time Good Food Award winners and named one of the best coffee roasters in the U.S. by Forbes and Gear Patrol with over 340 90 plus rated coffees at the Coffee Review. The Chicago Tribune called JBC one of Wisconsin’s standout roasters and the Daily Meal said our espresso will elevate your mornings. We are focused on quality-driven, sustainable coffees.

Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.

  • Unparalleled quality. We won’t buy a coffee unless we know that it will inspire you.
  • A human story. Often times a producer’s story gets lost in the coffee supply chain. It’s our focus to provide a seed to cup experience, honoring everyone involved.
  • Sustainability. We purchase sustainable coffees directly from producers and through brokers who share our goal of making coffee a sustainable commodity. Financially and environmentally, the coffees we purchase seek balance.
