There’s nothing quite like a stellar Kenya coffee and this one does not disappoint! Introducing our Kiangoi Kenya. It’s syrupy and plush with tasting notes of raspberry jam, blood orange, clover honey and sweet florals. If you’re a lover of the classic berry-forward Kenya profile (with a lovely pop of orange), this is the coffee for you. We have a limited supply, so we suggest snagging a bag soon while it lasts.
About Kiangoi Factory. This coffee comes from the Kiangoi Factory, a processing station part of the Rung’eto Farmers’ Cooperative Society, in the Kirinyaga region of Kenya. Coffee here is grown in red volcanic soil by smallholder farmers located on the slopes of Mount Kenya. This area is well known for producing exceptional coffees due to ideal growing conditions including rich fertile soil and optimum weather. Farmers contributing to Kiangoi Factory typically cultivate an average of 250 coffee trees on less than a hectare of land. They deliver red ripe coffee cherry to Kiangoi, a standout factory known for its cleanliness and devotion to quality standards. After coffee cherry is delivered, it is hand sorted and floated to remove less dense and damaged beans. The coffee is then depulped, fermented, washed and sorted again. Then, unique to Kenya processing techniques, the coffee is soaked in clean water (often overnight or sometimes longer). This extra soak creates distinct aromas and flavors unique to Kenya. Couple this with ideal terroir, growing conditions, and coveted varieties such as SL-34 (of which comprises 90% of this lot) and SL-28, and you create an ultra special Kenya coffee experience.
Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.
