New! Flor De Cana Pink Bourbon Honey

Pink Bourbon Honey

Introducing our new Flor De Cana Pink Bourbon Honey. When we first tasted this coffee, our cupping notes said things like, “Wow, that’s so interesting” and “Yum!” and “Nice!” This honey process coffee is pleasantly sweet and floral with tasting notes of black raspberry, hibiscus, wildflower honey, grape, and yellow tropical fruit. Displaying a depth of complex fruit and floral notes (along with a rich, silky body) this coffee is comprised solely of the Pink Bourbon coffee variety. First discovered and grown in Colombia, the Pink Bourbon variety is known for its intense floral notes, pleasant acidity, and a higher glucose content producing a sweeter, silkier cup. Unlike most coffee that is red when it ripens, the Pink Bourbon variety is actually pink when it ripens. Couple this unique variety with the honey process (a variation of a natural process where the coffee seed is dried with partial fruit still intact), and the result is fruity, sweet, and rich delight. We highly recommend!

About the coffee. This coffee was grown by producer Edwin Mazorra on his farm Miraflores in the popular coffee growing region of Huila, Colombia. When Edwin (along with his father) first acquired the farm, it was in terrible condition and was producing only commodity coffee. With a desire to cultivate high-quality specialty coffees, Edwin set out to transform the farm and to sell by cup quality rather than quantity. Edwin is also highly committed to the environment. He conserves a forest reserve that not only provides shade to his coffee (which also produces a better cup) but creates a habitat for animals and birds to flourish. Edwin’s dedication to environmentally-friendly growing practices and a higher cup quality, have resulted in a special cup of coffee that we all can feel good about drinking.

Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.

  • Unparalleled quality. We won’t buy a coffee unless we know that it will inspire you.
  • A human story. Often times a producer’s story gets lost in the coffee supply chain. It’s our focus to provide a seed to cup experience, honoring everyone involved.
  • Sustainability. We purchase sustainable coffees directly from producers and through brokers who share our goal of making coffee a sustainable commodity. Financially and environmentally, the coffees we purchase seek balance.
