A new coffee from Burundi! Our new Masha Burundi is part of Masha Washing station’s microlot program. Burundi microlots are selected based on cup quality and separated out due to their delicious aroma, flavor, acidity, and body. This particular microlot embodies all that we admire about the Burundi profile-it’s bright and clean with red fruit, sweet green, and caramel notes. It’s kind of like they took a plush Kenya coffee then added the lovely citric floral notes of an Ethiopian coupled with the green hoppy notes of a Rwanda coffee-all mashed up into one pleasant and easy-sipping coffee. We taste guava, melon (think cantaloupe), caramel cinnamon roll, orange zest, and green peppercorn. We highly recommend for lovers of zingy, yet clean, Rwanda and Burundi coffees. Enjoy!
Farm Level Info. Over three thousand smallholder farmers contribute to the Masha Washing Station in Kayanza Burundi. The average farm size is just 297 trees on roughly 11 hectares. These small-holder farmers are reliant upon coffee for their livelihood and have had their fair share of difficulties due to political conflict in Burundi. In recent years, the country has experienced more stability and quality-focused coffee programs have abounded. This particular coffee lot is a prime example of the country’s quality efforts brought to fruition.
Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.
