New Coffee! Kateshi Zambia

Kateshi Zambia

Our first ever coffee from Zambia and it does not disappoint! Introducing our Kateshi Zambia. It’s a tropical fun time. We love the unique banana note in this coffee (think banana runts), along with tasting notes of sweet pineapple, wildflower honey, orange, kiwi and apple. It’s, crisp, bright and delicious! We highly recommend for lovers of tropical fruit notes in their cup.

About. The Kateshi Coffee Estate is one of the very first coffee estates established in Zambia in 1972. At the time, its wet processing facilities were at the heart of coffee production in northern Zambia and they continue to be a central processing plant for the region today. Owned and operated by our friends at Covoya Specialty Coffee, supporting local community is at the forefront of the estate’s vision. Covoya provides daily access to safe drinking water to over 20,000 locals and supports 3 area schools that educate over 1500 students. There is also a health clinic on site that provides free basic healthcare to over 4,000 community members, averaging 95 patients per day. Notably, Kateshi has been at the forefront of boldly challenging gender stereotypes in Zambia. They are the first and only coffee estate to employ women in traditionally male-dominated roles such as driving tractors, bulldozers, and road graders.

Learn more about JBC, five time Good Food Award winners and named one of the best coffee roasters in the U.S. by Forbes and Gear Patrol with over 340 90 plus rated coffees at the Coffee Review. The Chicago Tribune called JBC one of Wisconsin’s standout roasters and the Daily Meal said our espresso will elevate your mornings. We are focused on quality-driven, sustainable coffees.

Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.

  • Unparalleled quality. We won’t buy a coffee unless we know that it will inspire you.
  • A human story. Often times a producer’s story gets lost in the coffee supply chain. It’s our focus to provide a seed to cup experience, honoring everyone involved.
  • Sustainability. We purchase sustainable coffees directly from producers and through brokers who share our goal of making coffee a sustainable commodity. Financially and environmentally, the coffees we purchase seek balance.
