New Coffee! Banko Gotiti Ethiopia

A quintessential Ethiopian coffee: floral, crisp and silky. Our new Banko Gotiti Ethiopia comes from the Gedeo zone (aka Yirgacheffe) in Ethiopia, which is considered a benchmark for high quality, complex arabica coffees. This coffee is a beautiful example of the special coffees coming out of the region with tasting notes of lemon lime soda, apple blossom, violet, jasmine, and apricot. It’s crisp, sparkling and silky. If you love high-toned, floral coffees, this one is for you. We highly recommend snagging a bag today.

About. This coffee comes from the Gedeb District in the highly-coveted Gedeo zone of Ethiopia. Gedeb is a remote area known to produce some of the world’s most beautifully crisp and floral washed coffees. Four hundred and ten smallholder farmers contribute coffee cherry to the Worka Sakaro Washing Station. Today, Daneil Mijane runs the washing station with a detailed focus on quality. The Mijane family works closely with farmers (whose farm sizes range from 1 to 10 hectares), providing harvest trainings and establishing seasonal cherry collection sites to reduce overland travel for farmers. Coffee is not admitted to the washing station until it has been inspected for uniform ripeness and overall quality. It is then depulped, fermented for around 48 hours, washed and then dried in the shade until it is no longer wet to the touch. It is then moved to raised drying beds where it is continuously rotated and aerated for one week (as well as covered during the hottest hours of the day.)

Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.

  • Unparalleled quality. We won’t buy a coffee unless we know that it will inspire you.
  • A human story. Often times a producer’s story gets lost in the coffee supply chain. It’s our focus to provide a seed to cup experience, honoring everyone involved.
  • Sustainability. We purchase sustainable coffees directly from producers and through brokers who share our goal of making coffee a sustainable commodity. Financially and environmentally, the coffees we purchase seek balance.
