A supernatural that is bright and fun! Our Banko Chelchele Supernatural is a fruit-driven cup boasting tasting notes of raspberry lime rickey, hibiscus, apricot jam, blue raspberry slushie, and strawberry. If you love a fruit-forward natural process Ethiopia, this coffee is for you. Plus it’s our last natural process Ethiopia of the season, so load up while supplies last!
What is a supernatural you ask? It is when enhanced or experimental processing methods are employed, along with naturally processing the coffee, to create complex and fruit-driven cups. In the case of this microlot, red ripe coffee cherry was sealed into carbon fiber drums for an anaerobic (devoid of oxygen) fermentation for 7 to 10 days at 15-18 degrees Celsius. During this stage, the sugars from the coffee cherry fruit further develop to create even more intense fruit notes than typical of a traditional natural process. After fermentation, the coffee cherry is laid out to dry on raised screen beds until it is then moved to a climate controlled warehouse for further resting, then milled/bagged, and then finally shipped.
Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.
