New! Nsinduka Rwanda
Introducing a classic Rwanda coffee: our new
Nsinduka Rwanda. And it is said to have a little help from the bees! Take a winey acidity and couple that with distinct clementine, butterscotch, rose, cane sugar, and sweet pea notes and you have a quintessential Rwanda coffee. Not to mention that the native honeybees that live around the Nyungwe Forest (where this coffee is grown) are said to be responsible for the unique profile of this coffee. The bee-assisted pollination, fertile soil, and cool lake-affect climate from Lake Kivu all contribute to a classically elegant coffee that is jammy, sweet, and distinctly Rwandan. If you are a lover of the classic Rwanda profile at its best, this coffee is definitely for you.
This microlot was produced by smallholder farmers contributing coffee cherry to the Abadatezuka Cooperative, specifically growers in the surrounding Nsinduka region. The Nsinduka area in Rwanda is gifted in terroir when it comes to coffee growing. The cool, humid climates of both Lake Kivu and the Nyungwe Forest National Park keep groundwater abundant throughout the uniquely mountainous region. Couple that with the unique bee pollination mentioned above and sandy loamy soil, and you have the ideal conditions for producing a distinctly lovely cup of coffee. Farmers here also use no synthetic inputs, either as fertilizer or pest control, so you can feel good about each cup of coffee you drink.
Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.
- Unparalleled quality. We won’t buy a coffee unless we know that it will inspire you.
- A human story. Often times a producer’s story gets lost in the coffee supply chain. It’s our focus to provide a seed to cup experience, honoring everyone involved.
- Sustainability. We purchase sustainable coffees directly from producers and through brokers who share our goal of making coffee a sustainable commodity. Financially and environmentally, the coffees we purchase seek balance.
