Introducing our Kamagogo Peaberry. This coffee was grown by smallholder farmers in central Kenya contributing to the Kamagogo Coffee Factory, a washing station that is part of the Kiru Farmer’s Cooperative Society. Farmers deliver their ripe coffee cherry to the factory where the cherry is then hand sorted, depulped, fermented overnight, and laid out on raised beds to dry where it is then hand sorted again for defects. Kamagogo works with local farmers by providing education on good agricultural practices, providing access to inputs to improve growing practices, and offering pre-financing options to growers. This particular lot of coffee was isolated out as a top lot for its exceptional flavor, acidity, and body. Comprised solely of peaberry seeds, we found this coffee to be super zingy and racy with tasting notes of blackberry, vanilla, apple cranberry compote, and hibiscus.
