New! Finca Cruz Loma Geisha

Geisha Variety

New Geisha Variety! Finca Cruz Loma Geisha.

Cue the exclamation points. We like to think that our cupping notes exude professionalism but sometimes a coffee is just too wowzer. From the cupping notes: Wowzer! So so pretty! Yum!! Berrylicious! Wow!! Fruity Berry!!! Introducing a Geisha variety from one of our favorite farms: award-winning Finca Cruz Loma. Take one of the world’s most coveted coffee varieties, couple that with meticulous farming practices and an ideal terroir for coffee growing, and the result is, simply put, coffee excellence. If you love the geisha variety and a fruit forward coffee, this lot is for you. It’s sparkling, elegant, and resplendent in a multitude of tasting notes including: strawberry compote, purple grape juice, fruit stripe gum, and all the flowers. We can’t say enough good things about this immaculate coffee. It’s a limited supply so we suggest snagging a bag soon!

Crown Jewel. We aren’t the only ones who think this coffee is special. This coffee was named a crown jewel by our partners at Royal Coffee. Crown jewel coffees are distinctive, super-specialty green microlots that have been identified by the Royal cupping team as some of the best coffees on the planet.

About the Farm. This special coffee is a very fruit forward washed coffee (very Natural like!) from Pichincha, Ecuador, produced by wife and husband team Maria Alexandra Rivera and Galo Morales, along with Galo’s sister Grace and their extended family. They grow coffee on their 350-hectare plot in San José de Minas, a small town in northwestern Pichincha. Everyone in the family plays a critical role in coffee production and together the family is constantly pushing boundaries and striving for better results. The family describes their farm as a sort of paradise, if you will, where the temperate, tropical climate allows for a large variety of flora to thrive. The family intercrops with guanagana (soursop), corn, beans, and a wide variety of citrus plants. Finca Cruz Loma took first place in 2021 in the prestigious Taza Dorada, a coffee competition in Ecuador focused on rewarding the best coffees in the country. They took 3rd place in the 2020 Taza Dorada and have been represented in multiple regional and national barista competitions.

Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.

  • Unparalleled quality. We won’t buy a coffee unless we know that it will inspire you.
  • A human story. Often times a producer’s story gets lost in the coffee supply chain. It’s our focus to provide a seed to cup experience, honoring everyone involved.
  • Sustainability. We purchase sustainable coffees directly from producers and through brokers who share our goal of making coffee a sustainable commodity. Financially and environmentally, the coffees we purchase seek balance.
