When you find a “Yum!” on our founder Michael’s cupping form, you know you have a stellar coffee. Our Kii Kenya is a plush coffee with a sweet-tart acidity and tasting/aroma notes of orange marmalade, mixed berry, candied ginger, vanilla, red currant, and lemon verbana. This coffee is great for both Kenya lovers and/or lovers of sparkling fruit forward coffees in general. It has the plush body typical of a Kenya coffee that is balanced exquisitely with sparkling fruit notes.

This coffee comes from the Kii Factory, a processing station part of the Rung’eto Farmers’ Cooperative Society (F.C.S) in the Kirinyaga region of Kenya. Coffee here is grown in red volcanic soil by smallholder farmers located on the slopes of Mount Kenya. This area is well known for producing exceptional coffees due to ideal growing conditions including rich fertile soil and optimum weather. F.C.S. serves about 1,215 farmer members who have on average 400 coffee trees on 1/3 of a hectare. Members deliver ripe cherry to the Kii factory immediately after picking. The coffee is then sorted, separated, depulped, fermented (typically overnight), washed with fresh river water, and dried on raised beds.
