This coffee comes from smallholder farmers from the Hambela Wamena district who contribute their red ripe cherry to the Dimtu washing station. A relatively new washing station (open now for two harvests), Dimtu sits on two hectares of land surrounded by rich Guji forests. It is an area known for producing some of the world’s best coffees. Water for the washing station is drawn from a nearby river and run through a series of cement washing channels along with the coffee as it’s scrubbed before being put in 10,000 kg fermentation tanks and then to the drying beds.
